2008 Georgetown Winter Opener

Postby Underground Kite Sports on Sat Jun 28, 2008 7:55 am

I realize that winter is now a long way off however we are starting to put together the 2008 Georgetown Winter Opener and we are looking for any ideas or tips that any of you might have for the event. Things that you have seen done other events and might like to see at ours, race or comp. ideas, etc. This year the event will be held over the weekend of December 5th-7th. It will also be a fund raiser for Granite County Search and Rescue with a portion of all proceeds going to them. At this time we are also in the process of securing volunteers, donations, and or sponsorships for the event. If any of you are interested or know of an organization or company that might be interested please let me know and I will get to you all of the information and forms.

Here is a link to the event site. http://undergroundkitesports.com/gwo

Thanks,
Cole Russell

I was just wondering in the last couple of days if it was going to happen again this year. Glad to see you putting things together Cole :drinks:

Since I have no skills to be competetive at anything I don't have any ideas on events but having a variety of kites to demo would be great. Also some riding at Haggin if there's snow or any other terrain options to try kites out would be all I'd want. Just my $.02.

Sounds Awesome! I'll be there! Matt Sexton stayed at my house a few weeks back and he convinced me to start a kiteboarding club when I return to MSU. With that in mind I was hoping we could set up both The Open and The Rodeo as Collegiate Kiteboarding Association events. I would love to help out organizing, setting up, tearing down, building features, etc. I'll research the situation more when the weather gets colder, but I really don't think it would be that hard to get on the circuit. It would be a good draw to get young kiters on the snow, out-of-staters into Montana, and maybe we can finally settle that Cat-Griz rivalry with style!

Hey Davey, that sounds great. I was actually just getting ready to send an email to the Collegiate Kiteboarding Association about getting events going here in Montana, so if you have the hook-up already that would be great. I know Joel was trying to get a kiting club going at UM last year. I don't know if it ever went through or not but if it did get going then he can help us with getting comps between the schools set up here. I am also looking at talking with the PKRA to get my event to be sanction kiter race events.

How's Hatteras? Learning a lot. Tell Sleazy J I said hi.

nosensegrafix is in again. Will take care of a flyer, or any other graphics, unless someone with real professionall graphics skills steps up first.
I like to stand as close to the edge as I can, because from there you can see all the things you cant from the center.
