A posse of skiers/boarders and a lone kiter spent Sunday in the bowl between Clay Butte and Beartooth Butte. At least 4 feet of snow in the bowl with inconsistent winds... The ridge on Clay Butte had nuking winds and hard packed wind crust (beyond my skill level...). Beartooth Lake appeared to have good winds but the ice was surfaced with 6" of slush and a foot of fluffy pow. We were very hesitant to cross the lake... The best site here is beyond the wilderness boundary (north) in the upper bowl between Clay and Beartooth. I have yet to explore to the east of Beartooth Lake.
