Sorry for the lack of feed back Lew, Im staying wherever the beer drinking is and the kiters are. Other than that.....have kite, will travel. I am a little partial to this spot as it is a little closer to me and cuts a tiny bit of drive time off. :drinks:
I like to stand as close to the edge as I can, because from there you can see all the things you cant from the center.

Here's the latest video from the pass  . I think we'll have snow

Wonder if I could get a fix on who-all plans to camp & show up? There's been some inquiries from my backcountry skier-type buddies on if there's space at our campsite or not so I wasn't sure what to tell them - also if you're bringing family, friends, etc include them in your response. Also thought if anyone is considering coming but would have to fly into Billings - with plenty of advance notice I'm sure we could figure out a pickup/dropoff for you. Hey admin can this be set up like a poll so that people could just say they're in?

Thursday, 29th May - currently the Beartooth Highway is closed and gated below Rock Creek as two snowslides have damaged the roadway. Crews are repairing this but it is not known if the road will open this weekend as of noon today.

I was going to head up there today but now I'll go the back way to the Top-of-the World on the Cooke City side instead (BTW, that road is also closed to the West Summit).

Maybe they will get it open all the way through this weekend and I can meet and fly!

See ya out there,

Noah

As of Thurs am the road is closed on the WY side as well. You can get to Cooke City through Mammoth or by Clark, WY but not up on the pass from either direction. Sounds grim for accessing the plateau at all this weekend. I can still head out for Cooke this weekend if there's promise...just have to find a different place to hang than the campground on the Red Lodge side.

this area is accessable from the wyoming side. and there are endless opportunities if you have a sled. this pic was taken a couple of years ago where we camped when the pass was closed due to mudslides. we can't go this weekend, but have made it an annual family tradition. with all of the snow it should be really good, but could get soft in the afternoon. the area in the backgroundwould be really good via snowmobile and you can get up to areas just southwest of the headwall.
