Hello all, new to this forum just wanted to say this forum looks promising, hope it does well. As you may have noticed by my username I am the one they call weldngod. If you need info about metals and working metals let me know . I build my own kite buggies out of 1 1/2" aluminum square pipe.I will have to get some pics up soon. Is any body else in VA. I live in the norfolk area and work as a marine welding specialist locally. I have absolutely no one else to kite with. I have lots of beach , but few notice.( I have tried to infect others with this kite madness ) I have been known to get out a flexi buzz or sting for friends and a few strangers. Anyhow I am ramblin on (must be the beers)just wanted to say hi all and see u in the forums. PEACE

Not only are you doing a really cool sport, and building what sounds to be a buggy I may be interested in, but your doing this sport for the love, without spectators, or glory, or companionship.... Sooner or later someone will seek you out, and you can pass on the knowledge brother. In fact, you have found the Best forum that Ive ever seen. And you should swing by everyday and help us grow it! Funny you should mention that I'm trying to learn how to weld aluminum w/out a mig or tig. I have a crappy buzzbox that I'm pretty handy with & am damn good w/a torch. I have straight acet. & mapp torches & am really good w/ copper so i understand good prep technique. (just wanted you to know I'm not a total hack)

I have 2 good projects I'm needing to get done before winter. Just little things that I like doing for myself. I've messed w/it but haven't gotten reliable welds yet....maybe just the right flux? Right kind of rod?

Can't wait to see the buggies - am looking for 1 of those as well

Hey, I am also a Virginian. There is supposedly a small but growing kiting community in Va Beach. I can try to dig up some contact information for you. I primarily kite in Avon NC, the wind is sooo nice there. As far as Va goes, first landing in the bay has been the other spot.
