Havoc vs. Session

Postby NYKiter on Thu Mar 13, 2008 5:19 pm

What are the differences? Liquid Force's webpage says they are both Freeride kites but the Havoc is a high performance kite?

I am a beginner but would want a kite I can grow into. What could I expect from choosing the slightly less costly Session over the Havoc? Both look like great kites and hope to have an SLE for this summer and get out on the water!

Thanks!

I must say i've been on both and they are both incredibly fun kites. Talking with the designer and team liquid force they told me the havoc is the badass and the session is tuned for upcoming levels intermediate or beginner. Don't get confused with high performance and top models. Until you really dial in your riding, and boosting you won't tell a large difference. I had a wonderful time on both kites and actually really liked the session mainly cause the session i used the session on was killer. :D thats alot of seshin. Relaunch is unbelivable if you're coming off of a 5th line C. the kite is stable and flys on its own when you're hooking up so basically gives you a range of security you might find with a foil. Although you can't completly disable the kite you can limit it and put it anywhere you choose. The choice is yours the Havoc is starting to grow as a name and session is fairly new but almost the same as its older brother.
I love the wind and I love getting HIGH on air.

Hi NYKiter

I am a foil guy, but I own 2 Havoc 2007 (10+14) that have used a bit. and I am very satisfied. First all the reviews are good.

When they say, the kite performs like a 2m more. I beleive it. It's a C-shape but with a flat section which provides a higher projected surface. My Havoc 10 almost pulls like my Flysurfer 10m Psycho3 (closed cell kites). May be 90%.

They turn fast but are easy to control. They are easy to reverse relaunch. With enough wind, you just pull one rear line and it turns. These are safe enough to be flown by beginner. I would say I am intermediate rider (3 years experience) but I am not a top rider due to my age. I do tiny little jump but no tricks. And I feel this kite is not too much for a beginner, and will not be outgrow for a more advanced rider.

I think you are in college, so if money is an issue: the Havoc 2007 is still a very good kite, and easy to get good deals on it.

Hope this helps.

The Havoc is a higher aspect kite than the Session. The Session also has double reinforced leading edge and seems to make it more durable for snow and land use. They both are great kites and fly in all winds. The depower and re-launch systems are amazing. The upwind is crazy. It goes upwind more than it wants to go downwind. Great kites all around.
