Where to get cheap bindings?

Postby NYKiter on Thu Nov 29, 2007 7:28 pm

So my landboard has some pretty crappy "bindings" on it. (If they can even be called that)

What should I be looking for in a binding? Velcro? Ratchet? Where can I get some for cheap? The landboard was less than $100 so I don't want to spend much on the bindings.

Thanks guys!

Wow That is a new setup i've never seen before. Don't know what they were thinking for that. As far as ratchets go not really sure what to think, but for a beginer for landboarding you want to say see ya to the board when you don't feel right (boosting) When you just cruise it doesn't matter quite so much and ratchets would help take the extra strain off your front shin muscle. Pm or give Undergroundkitesports a shout. I know for a fact he has some sweet new scrub bindings that need to be gotten rid of problably around 50$ or less i'm guessing. Take a look at the weldngod's aluminum ground board those are the binding's i'm talking about.

You'll need to do your own retrofitting when you get them. A few extra holes won't add any stress to that solid board. It looks like to me to mount them in the 4 dot area on your board. put them at a duck pattern like you got there. Have a helper hold the new bindings about where you stand and make sure its symetrical on both sides. Mark your hole and drill it, screw it, and your done.

I'm thinking about putting a handle in the middle for grab tricks. :drinks:

By the way from the picture it doesn't look like a crappy landboard just a lack of binding's. How's the bearings on it? I'm sure you can get a cheap set at a skate shop. I think there are two patterns for landboards 12mm is one and 3/8's is the other two bearings for those hubs. http://www.mtbz.com/mountainboard_acces ... d_hubs.htm This online retailer has parts for mbs and ground industries. :D

Thanks Craz!

I actually won the landboard on Ebay my mistake. Put a bid in and didn't think I would end up winning. I figured I could change out the bindings if I needed to, which I do. ;)

I am going to wait and get the bindings in the spring. I have been flying the Ozone but haven't hopped on a board yet. Mine has been in the shop for a while now, but will be done this Friday!!! :)

I wonder if old snowboard Bindings would work. I know you would prob want to fall out of em if you took a digger.

Here is a thought, take some old snowboard bindings and take off the upper ratchet straps. that way you have highbacks and the toe strap, and would still fall out if needed!

I find old bindings like that all the time at the thrift store for two dollars.

LOL. :P The board is in the shop. I ran over something last year playing in the woods at the mountain I snowboard at. Needed some Ptex and a good wax/sharpen.

I will say this is one of the most overlooked aspect in snowkiting a good tune is critical to gliding or sticking. On light wind days if your board sticks you will fight it til complete frustration. Its so worth it to stay on top of keeping your board fixed up. Have you gotten out on the snow yet NYkiter? Hows the new kite treating you?
