South Dakota Bans kitebuggies Part 2

Postby triplethreatsnowkiteteam on Mon Oct 29, 2007 5:02 pm

Went Back to the soccer fields in Sioux Falls again this weekend. This would be my second attempt to Buggy the continuous one mile stretch of soccer field. Not a soccer kid in sight, no games, no events, nothing was in my way, not even that pesky cop on his Harley!  I pumped my kit and mounted my buggy. I rode for about thirty minutes. A stranger approached me and gave me his address. He had prime land at his house, and had seen me get chased off by the po po a week earlier. I thanked him and kept riding my buggy for another fifteen or so. Eventually the wind died and I was picking everything up. As I was folding my kite up, the same bike cop approached. :? To make a long story short he said if he had to chase me out of there on more time he was going to arrest me. He made it a point to say that by saying arrest he meant issuing a citiation.

I told him that he wouldnt see me there again. I made the comparison of how my kite buggy was no different than the Baby strollers that get pushed across the field on a regular basis. He declared my buggy a vehicle. I said it wasnt a vehicle, and he showed me the law that said a vehicle is any means of conveyance other than a bicycle...ergh...I think Im defeated on this one.

On the bright side, I checked out this field that the stranger gave me an address for. It is Only two additional miles away, but the wind is way cleaner, and there arent any faggy cops around. If I get hassled at this other spot, Im gonna declare that this city is anti-kite.

That is so lame. It sounds like there is some soccer mom that lives around that area calling you in... thats really cool that the guy let you ride at his place. At least some people around the city aren't anti-kite. ;)

I like to stand as close to the edge as I can, because from there you can see all the things you cant from the center.

Sounds pretty ideal to me! As long as your set to come back for winter when it hits!!
