Instant Buggy repair tips.

Postby triplethreatsnowkiteteam on Mon Oct 15, 2007 9:11 am

So I broke the seat of my buggy this weekend!

For a couple monthes now, I have been ignoring the Deterioration of my side realease buckles on the seat of my buggy.
A couple of the plastic buckles broke, and my ass was taking a beating from riding a lil low in the buggy. I went to the sporting goods store to buy some replacement side realease buckles and when I went to put them on I realized I would have to sew the buckles onto the existing straps. I thought to myself "screw that" and just used zip ties to secure the straps to the broken Buckles. This was much easier, cheaper, and I think it will be stronger to boot!
I also ziptied a few zipties to the axle on my buggy in case it happens again in the field. To me its the eqivelant of keepin some tools in your auto in case you break down, with zipties, you wont need any tools, just your hands will do!

So far I have never popped a tire! (knock on wood)!
I hear this happens a lot with the tires on these buggies, does anyone else have tire problems?

Hey AJ glad to hear your zip-ties are holding. I like the idea of putting some extra ones to carry along. I personally would sew new buckles on when I got a chance but the zip-ties sound like a great quick fix.
I finally popped my front tire on my buggy the last time out. I carry some stuff called "Super Plug" in my toolkit. It is made for car tires and you just have to break of a piece and show it into the hole. It works good. If you are worried about it in the field then you could carry a small cartridge of inst-a-flat with you. It is only the size of a Co2 cartridge and can save you a long walk. Cyclists use them all the time.

Most of my zip ties have held, although one particular area that stresses on my seat required some wire instead of the zip ties. The Buggy Manufacturer sews the side release buckles into ther seat, so once you break a buckle, you have to find a seamstress which is why Im using wire and zip ties.

Bring it by the shop sometime and we can get it sewn back together. Remember to bring some buckles though. I don't know how many I have in stock.
