Sweet little stockpile started there. Would that be 1" schedule 40 316L seamless pipe? Very strong stuff when welded properly.Do you have access to TIG welder?

Nice Welder there Mr God :geek:

Good to have quality gear ... always !

I have been up to a little more cutting and pasting myself

And here are a few more pics ....

It's so easy to sit back and say ... I'm going to build a buggy .... but when you actually start (and you make it quality) you start to realize all the work that goes in. The tools you need ... the price of 316 .... the discs .. the cutting compound ... where to get wheels ... blah blah blah ... I am loving and hating the process ... I have eaten so much dust, my knuckles have those unusual 'shiny' days ... but when you see the 'mirror' finish start to form ... and you know what she is going to look like when she's all bolted together ........

It's worth all the pain

I feel ya my brother, Everybody thinks welding should be cheap or something. I haven't found anything about it that was inexpensive. 12,000 dollar machine, 1200 dollar wire feeder, 250 dollar a month ad in yellow pages,129 dollar bottle of helium,12 dollar 1 lb. spool of wire, hundreds of dollars worth of welding lead and remote wire. The look on some dudes face when you give him a BILL for 300 dollars for driving 20 miles in a diesel truck with all of the above and welding a 2 inch crack on his fishing boat PRICELESS!

That's it mate .... you simply get what you pay for

You want cheap .... you get cheap, but then you will probably have problems you have to fix. You want quality .... you pay more .... but you get quality (or at least you hope you will)

No shortcuts on my buggy .... just quality

I weld my back axle plates and bend the side rails tomorrow night .... if all goes to plan, I will be a very happy boy in only a few more weeks. Keep ya posted with more pickies as I take em :D

Happy Days

Nice work there JSKD, you can usually spot the wannabees by the " cheap, low duty cycle junk" they call a welding machine. How much does your frame weigh, without wheels? Will it have a susp.? or rigid axle?

It will have a rigid axle ... bum padding and Libre Big foot lites will be my saviour

Jeremy and I spent about 5 1/2 hours at his workshop last night. I polished the back axle and siderails on a lathe, then Jeremy tigged in the axle bosses + axle plates ... we only had a 20mm bend from the weld (we were expecting at least 30 + ) which was made all the better by its uniformity. It only bent in the centre, rather than at each plate .... so it was a bonus for straightening. We also bent the siderails so they are now ready to be plated .... which should happen next week. Then We only have the front fork assembly (all cut and polished) left to weld. My wheels arrived last week and I will be getting a seat from Jon the kitebuggybagman. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo close ......

I cant wait to have a ride in her :D

I will hit you with some pics soon :drinks:
