Georgetown Lake Open

Postby Underground Kite Sports on Thu May 22, 2008 12:36 pm

Georgetown Lake is completely melted as of today. Of course we are getting snow as of today as well. This weekend we will hopefully be getting in a chance at our first water session of the year up at the lake.

Well Doc. Dan, Lee, and I had our first day in the water at the lake today. The wind wasn't there so we spent the day working with Lee on how to wake board and working on our board skills as well. Tomorrow the wind is supposed to be cooking so hopefully we will get our first water sessions in. Hope everyone is getting out and riding.

Still in dry suits? Or just thick wet suits?
I like to stand as close to the edge as I can, because from there you can see all the things you cant from the center.

We are all still in drysuits with wetsuit boots and gloves. The water just broke free from ice a little over 2 weeks ago so the water is still very cold. With the drysuits though it is comfortable.

[i][Im coming though Georgetown lake on my way up to flathead lake around june 26th. I was hoping to find some wind that day while traveling and get in a session. I have some questions.

1. How cold will the water be around that time?, should i bring my drysuit?.

2. Do you know of any good areas on or near flathead lake where I can kite. Im going to be there untill the 6th of July. Also, would i need dry suit there?, my other option is a shorty.

Thanks, any info appreciated. Bourck/i]

bourck, you will definitely want to bring your drysuit. The water around here doesn't normally start to warm up till late July and this year the snow has lasted longer. When you get into the G-Town area give me a call or shoot me an email and we can hook up to go out and ride. As far as Flathead area I don't know it to well. Seeley and Placid lakes can be awesome places to ride when the wind is blowing good. Also Browns lake but they are all around an hour away from Flathead. If I hear of any places there I will let you know.

Thanks so much for the info. I'll drop you a line closer to the time. It will probably be on the 27th when i get there. I'll keep an eye on wind guru and call if there is hope.
Thanks. Bourck

The forecasts for the western side look pretty quiet for tomorrow(22nd) but they look real snappy along the front. 18-21 is called for at Bynum, Willow Creek, & Tiber. Anybody game to come over?
