Finally went snowboarding this weekend

Postby terremoto on Mon Nov 26, 2007 10:00 am

So I had four days off and not much to do. I was going stir crazy. Meadows - the ski resort where I have my season pass - had two lifts open  I didn't want to go because it was all fake snow and long lines and short runs - the worst of all worlds. But on Sunday I couldn't take it - I had to get out - so up I went. It was an OK day - I just wanted to be on my board again. The high light of my day was meeting this beautiful snow bunny from Los Angeles. She was up visiting her brother over thanks giving. We rode a couple of hours together and then she decided she wanted to go because the runs were pretty crappy. Hopefully I'll get to see her again. But it was pretty cool meeting her - I have been snowboarding for five years now - and this is the first time I have met a lady snowboarding  so far this snowboarding season is off to a good start!!

 Beware LA snowbunnies - they're the devil

I tried a Thurs tour in the local mtns. Looked so tasty - no wind down low so why not. Man the P-Tex repair companies will stay in business a while now - Turkey was good though

Sat/Sun tried to get out & kite - numerous locations all to be thwarted by little or no wind. Lots of barely going faceplants but its all part of the learning curve right?

I read about a sport called Snowboarding in the History books once upon a time! Can you believe people used to only ride down hills? I heard sometimes when they would hit a flat spot, they had to take one foot out of their binding and shove themselves across the flats completly unassisted without a kite....and these same people used to wait in line to ride chairlifts up the mountains they were riding down! Worst of all, they had to buy a pass to these places annually!

Glad you got to get out there and do some boarding. After you kite for awhile it seems odd to have to buy a lift ticket and deal with all the people. ;)

I dont think there is much snowkiting to be had in NW Oregon is his problem! He makes up for it in the pring, summer and fall though.

Yeah exactly. You need a snowmobile to snowkiting here in Oregon. But I do plan on hitting G town early next month :D

Glad I'm going to G Town this weekend. The snowboarding this weekend is going to be very weak. We had a sh*t load of rain recently and it melted all of our beautiful snow. Hopefully when I come back we will have a recharge (hopefully).

Stoked on that I bet, Hood will prbly be rock hard. When I left this Thursday mornin from the portland airport, it was dumpin rain, i fly into spokane, 31 degrees. Sounds like the lake got a small dump too, at least enough not to have skates on this weekend! Speakin of which, Terre, sounds like I will be outta work early, so you'll have to drive all the way out, which it sounded like you were plannin on anyway, but I just got back from that Portland TooL show, drove down yesterday, took 6 hrs 10 min.s with one stop in tri-cities for jack in the crack(box) and another stop by the john day for gas from Wallace. Solid 76-79 mi an hr. Then I know it is right about 3 hrs from here, with these dry roads, watch the other side of lookout into MT is they arent dry. See ya there! :drinks:
