Well spring is finally here in the pacific northwest and this last weekend really had some sweet temps. Friday started out with a bang sat on a hill for nearly 5 hours prior to launching the ol paraglider. Sounds like waiting for the wind kiting. The cycles were changing and moving to a cross launch situation so off we went. What a beautiful sunset bouyant tour around whitehall the bulls allowed me to start my flight by making my vario go crazy then a beautiful flight with no sink into the sunset. Next day much of the same waiting for cycles but no flying for me. Sunday was predicted to increase to 20-30 so off with the ground board. I started my adventure in missoula had a sweet 20 footer session in the soccer fields next to the hospital  I was freaked out by the strength of the cycles got caught up in a soccer goal and still flew the kite but realized although the conditions were suberb my space to work in was inadequate. Off to whitehall or home for me i go. Get there in about 2 hours. grab the ten meter foil and to the school i go. the day was pressing on but whitehall is known by the locals to be a somewhat of a desert climate which produce strong thermals for paragliding and kiting. well the therms were there and when i would time them just right sky high i went. it was pretty impressive jumping over a tennis court fence which is almost 20 feet. after countless passes exhaustion kicks in and looking at the ground i needed to give the lawn a rest (don't wanna lose such a pristine spot.) land boards do tear up sod if its lightly moist and sweet conditions between your landings and edging you need to pay attention how much damage you can cause to a nicely manicured field. I'm sunburned and jonesing for the next sesh
I love the wind and I love getting HIGH on air.
