BALDE IV 9.5m vs MANTA II 10.m

Postby DarkHunterSO16 on Wed Mar 26, 2008 4:19 pm

Man i have a big desision to make, im going to spend alot of cash on a kite as you do,
but what kite shall a '75k (13stone) Land & snow boarding with 7 years Snake boarding experience and 4 years flying a BLADE III 3m' get? i narrowed it down
to this,

I wanted to get FLEXIFOIL BLADE IV 8.5m
(Great quality)
(Great responce)
(Super powerfull)
(NO de-power)

but then i realised i NEED a de-power kite so...
FLEXIFOIL SABER2 9.5m
(Greater quality)
(Better design)
(POWER LIFT)
(True MADNESS)

but then....... i saw........'THE' OZONE MANTE2 10m

(OZONE lookes just as good as Flexifoil)
(its 10m and all thease kites are about the same price £$)
(CHASTA flyes one....enough said?)

i want to buy soooon, give me any advice you can if you read this, even if its two words, it all helps,

i will be posting mad vids of my PROTOTYPE custom SNAKE BOARD (Stiffy Pro free style) that will ride on grass and sand.

it'll be a new sport i think? any  sugestions for a name?

Besides that thanks for reading, and for any posts,

I know your excited about getting a kite but could you please limit this question to one area instead of posting over and over and over again in every section.

Sorry I don't wanna sound like a jerk, I love helping new kiters get involved with the sport and watch them grow.

Abe, I still wanna know what your intentions are with the kite. Wanna buggy/landboard? wanna snowkite, wanna water kite? wanna static fly? wanna use a air chair? wanna use ice skates what is it that you wanna do?

If you stick with land your choices are good. If you want a multipurpose kite or perhaps hit the water you need to check out the inflatables.
I guess what i'm trying to say is tell us what you want then we can guide you in the right direction.

I'm still very curious with all the choices out there these two kites are it? If you're serious about the sport and can't make up your mind buy them both you'll need more then one kite in the long run anyways.

Cheers :drinks:

One more thing. How do you ride that snakeboard. Gosh i tried getting on one in a store and couldn't even balance with a shelf nearby. It looks really hard but when you get good looks alot like snowboarding.

Sorry Craz z,

My bad dude, i didnt think any one was going to read this, i only posted twice : > sorry,

Well dude i want a kite that is no less that 9.5m, i am going to be kiting on land, i think ill wait a little befor i get into kitesurfing,
I want to use my kite on grass with my board, i also want to be able to use it on sand and snow now and then, but mostly grass.

I have a 4x snake boards which iv been riding for about 4 years, i was sponsored by Frozen Clothing at one point, i did a demo with Team Extream
at Goodwood festival of speed. i won a coupple of comps too, best trick,

Because the snake board is attached to your feet its basicly like a snow board exept u can turn alot faster, because a snake board has two axis were it can
turn. I can do all the snowboard tricks, grabs, etc, i mostly skate vert, i can do 720s, frontflips, misty flip, side flip, i am notorious for my front flips,
the whole skate park stops to watch.

Basicly i have 1/2 way converted my snake board to ride on grass/sand, i have snowboard bindings with quick release, i NEED bigger wheeles, i have been looking
for mountain board wheels but they neet to be smaller to fit 58mm bearings, or i need to get a truck extendor of some kind.

I am friends with the UK distributor for Dimention Street boards. i will be working with him for a soloution. it will be RAD when its done.

thanks,

No worries

Now it should be much easier to steer you in the right direction. So you wanna landboard and static fly. The foils are perfect for this.

Both kites look to be depowerable. You'll need a harness if you don't already have one. Its not required but to use the depower function of the kite its necessary.

From what i've gathered from info on the web. These kites look very similar. The aspect ratio's are very close to each other. I guess on looking at the techs of the two they would be a hard choice to make. I like the control system on the ozone's so i'd problably head that direction although I have flown ozones alot flexi's haven't had the pleasure so my opinion might be biased on what i've had more experience with.

I hate to say it but I don't think i've helped much here its a tossup I need to see the flexi's in person to get a good look at construction and materials. Pictures are tuff to guage things by is there any possible way for you to demo both kites???

Foils are nice in landboarding cause they require less pilot input when focusing on keeping you're wheels moving. They also are sporting the take a break line. Just pop that safety chill out whatever reload the safety and go.

Rhett knows more when it comes to land boarding than I do, but as fare as kites go have you looked into other kites other than Flexifoil or Ozone. HQ and Flysurfer offer kites equally as good if not better at better prices. Also the new LF Session is made to handle the abuse of land, snow, and water. Really look into what you are getting into before you spend any cash.

im still looking for a harness, i want to go for a seat style harness, can you recomend any
good manufactures, i had my eye on OZONE access XC, it dosent have back support though
so are 'Scrud' harnesses any good?

what about the Dakine Fusion Harness, this lookes badass and its on offer. can you use this witha 5line safty system?

So did you get you're brand new kite yet? Lets see it.

Harnesses are a tough decsion if you only have a few to choose from you really need to put them on and see if you're comfy in them. I have a fusion and after about 3 rides on it i'm done with it hurts my lower back really bad. I have a wipika that was my favorite for a long time but was tired of strapping in for and tightening down everytime. I'm now on a North harness that is ridiculous its got a bar clip so you're settings are the same everytime all you do is clip the bar on and go. The dakine's i've noticed are bad news the clip system often times comes out while doing various riding methods. Some people have designed a rope thingy or even using zip ties to ensure that the clip doesn't come off the bar. Liquid force has some great gear too. Cole is using the boardshorts and says he can't feel anything and its super solid so thats another option to look into. Its all about trial and error the more people you can fly with the better then you have more chances to try everything. :drinks:

MY APOLOGIES FOR BEING SUCH A NOOB,

1. The title of this inital post was 'BALDE IV 9.5m vs MANTA II 10.m' this is incorrect.

2. First of all Flexifoil dont make 9.5 Blade IV 's, they come in 8.5m.

3. You cant compare a Flexifoil BLADE III 8.5 to a OZONE MANTA II 10m, BLADES are not even a De-power kite.

4. The Title should have read 'FLEXIFOIL SABER2 9.5 vs OZONE MANTA II'

5. FLEXIFOIL DONT MAKE SABERS ANY MORE. Yet they still add them on the site. FBS

6. FLEXIFOIL can GO TO HELL, i still like my trusty BLADE III 3m though.

7. So in the end i got a OZONE MANTA II 10m + a MISTIC Firestarter Harness.

its sweet........... Helmet cam vids comming soon........... 8-)
